The Diabetes Registry of Pakistan (DROP) is the brainchild of Prof. Abdul Basit and is owned by the Health Research Advisory Board (Health RAB), in collaboration with the Diabetic Association of Pakistan (DAP).
This is the first Diabetes Registry in Pakistan, which commenced development in 2016. The eventual aim of DROP is to provide national data on numbers of people with diabetes and on outcomes for use in audit and research to inform national policy-making and guidelines. Diabetes Registry of Pakistan (DROP) has been developed with the vision;
* To register all people with diabetes in Pakistan.
* To classify the diabetes burden with its types and special conditions e.g. gestational diabetes, type 1 diabetes, diabetic foot, etc.
* To develop a hub to plan and execute relevant national and regional researches and policies.
* To ensure comprehensive and standardized diabetes care by following National guidelines with regular update accordingly.
